I hope everyone is prepared for the storm that’s coming in. There’s a lot going on this weekend, hopefully the storm doesn’t cause too much of a problem. Have fun out there, but most importantly be safe!

I apologize to those of you who were planning on coming out. But this could work in your favor by giving you extra time to study. But for those of you who hadn’t thought about it until now, here’s your chance to start talking it up to your friends and start recruiting your team.

We had a great turnout last week and an awesome time. I hope to see everyone back out again next week when we resume our regularly scheduled brain stumping.

According to the Facebook event invitations I’ve received already, there are three big parties being thrown this NYE…Starter’s Riverport, Roosevelt’s 21st, and Drinky’s. Clicking on each of the links will take you to the Facebook event page for each event. I’m sure there are going to be more parties announced in the coming weeks, so consider this page a work in progress. Check back as we get closer to NYE for the latest information.

UPDATE 1: Both the Allentown and Bethlehem BrewWorks are throwing parties to ring in the new year. Check out the details at the Bethlehem BrewWorks HERE and the Allentown BrewWorks HERE.

UPDATE 2: Commenter Jenny tipped me off to a couple of cool events. Over at the Sands in Bethlehem, Emeril’s Chophouse is throwing an all inclusive party for $125 per person. And several local hotels are also throwing New Year’s Eve gatherings…the best part about that is there’s no need to drive at the end of the night! Thanks, Jenny!

UPDATE 4: Details about The Firehouse’s New Year’s Eve party have been announced on Facebook. $30 cover, 9-11PM open bar, free food, champagne toast at midnight, and a “cash drop”.

UPDATE 5: Ok, scratch that last update. According to a new post from The Firehouse on Facebook, their NYE party no longer has a cover charge. There’s still going to be a free champagne toast at midnight but you can forget about the open bar. $2 well drinks, $5 Vegas bombs from 9-10 and DJ $weetlife from9-2.

Come on out for five rounds of brain teasing trivia. Each round covers a different trivia topic. Previous rounds have included The Simpson’s, famous redheads/gingers, American history/presidents, and Fidel Castro.

What I’ve got for you here is a roundup of all the bigger celebrations being thrown by some of the larger bars in the area. Chances are if you’re gonna go a local haunt you already know where your friends from high school are gonna be, so I’m not gonna get into that. But if you didn’t go to high school in the area and don’t know where to party this Wednesday night, maybe you’ll be able to find something to help make the most of your time off of work.

So there you have it, there’s a lot of big parties going on this week. Which one will you be going too? Have a great Holiday everyone!

As annoying as they may have been, the delays in opening may have been for the best. When it finally opened the place looked awesome inside. Dark wood, rough brick and various firehouse memorabilia combined for a subtle, yet cool atmosphere. It appears that no expense was spared in transforming the decades old firehouse into the brand new Firehouse that we now have.

Now, when I tell you that no expense has been spared, what comes to mind? Expensive drink prices? A snobby wait staff? A place trying to be something it’s not? Well that couldn’t be father from the truth at The Firehouse. Drinks prices are very reasonable; I believe Lager drafts are $3 (Correct me if I’m wrong in the comments section below) and I know it’s only $3.50 for a Sam Adams draft. The bartenders and servers were friendly and quick, although most seemed a bit green.

As previously mentioned the crowds really turned out on Thursday night, the bar hit capacity at about 11:45PM. I wasn’t able to make it out to The Firehouse on either Friday or Saturday night, so I’m relying on you now…what was it like on Friday and Saturday nights? I’m really excited to see where things will go for The Firehouse. The next couple of weeks it should continue to draw a solid crowd from people throughout the Valley. I’m especially curious to find out what the place is going to be like in a month or so once the newness has worn off. But for right now, it’s really cool to have a new addition to Bethlehem’s Southside entertainment district. I think The Firehouse is a nice compliment to the current roster of bars and restaurants and, like I said, I’m excited to see where it goes. What’s your First Impression of The Firehouse?
