I’ll be out of town this weekend. But I don’t like leaving you guys in the dark without me to guide your paths. Here’s a quick, handy guide to some of the events that are coming up over the next couple of days.

Thursday – March 4, 2010

Associated Mess Live Improv Comedy – Pitcher’s Sports Bar – Allentown – The best/only live improv comedy in the Lehigh Valley. $8 or $5 with college ID. Cheap beer, too!

Friday – March 5, 2010

White Trash Bash – Drinky’s – Easton – “107 The Bone’s Scotty Brilliant and DJ Dangerous Dan. Dress “Trashy” in your wife beaters, trucker hats, etc. for $2 Shots All Night! $4 Red Bull & Vodkas All Day, $2 Any Pint (10-12). No Cover Charge.”

Saturday – March 6, 2010

One Night in Vegas – Starter’s Riverport – Bethlehem – DJ Roonie G is back at Starter’s Riverport. So if you missed the first One Night in Vegas, have no fear, One Night in Vegas Vol. 3 should do the trick.

Friday – January 29, 2009 – 3rd Annual Snow Ball @ Drinky’s

I guess it’s fitting that as I write this fresh snow is falling from the sky. If that snow continues until Friday night it will be even more appropriate. This Friday night is the 3rd Annual Snow Ball at Drinky’s in Easton. I stumbled upon this event on Facebook and after reading the event page for it, I’m left feeling a bit underwhelmed. $4 Red Bull & vodkas and $.99 Miller Lites? Decent specials, but nothing winter or snow themed? How about 1/2 price Sam Adams Winter Lagers? Or $4 dollar Winter Wonderland martinis? DJ Dangerous Dan and Scotty Brilliant will be handling the entertainment for the night, but the event page doesn’t mention anything else related to the Snow Ball theme.

I’m not trying to talk smack on this party, but if you’re going to throw a themed party go all out with it! But maybe I’m wrong. Maybe there will be more winter themed stuff happening inside that they decided not to mention on the Facebook invite. Anyone been to one of the themed events at Drinky’s before? What can someone expect who is attending the Snow Ball tomorrow night?

Mardi Gras Party Roundup

I hope you all are sufficiently recovered from New Year’s Eve because it’s time to start thinking about the next big holiday in our party year. All you Catholics out there probably know the origin of Mardi Gras so allow me to enlighten those of you who don’t . Mardi Gras, or Fat Tuesday, takes place the day before Lent begins on Ash Wednesday. Traditionally viewed as a final night of debauchery before setting aside such things for Lent, to most of us these days its become just another excuse to get out and party.

So far several bars in our area have already announced big party plans, but you can expect more to come as we get closer to Mardi Gras. Check back often for any updates I may add to this post.

Thursday – December 31, 2009 – New Year’s Eve 2009

It wouldn’t be a holiday in the Valley if our locals bars and clubs weren’t trying to cash in on it by throwing a huge themed party. The next holiday to get this treatment is New Year’s Eve. It helps that New Year’s Eve isn’t really that much of a holiday to begin with…More of a lazy excuse to get drunk, kiss random people at midnight, and start the new year off with a hangover.

According to the Facebook event invitations I’ve received already, there are three big parties being thrown this NYE…Starter’s Riverport, Roosevelt’s 21st, and Drinky’s. Clicking on each of the links will take you to the Facebook event page for each event. I’m sure there are going to be more parties announced in the coming weeks, so consider this page a work in progress. Check back as we get closer to NYE for the latest information.

UPDATE 1: Both the Allentown and Bethlehem BrewWorks are throwing parties to ring in the new year. Check out the details at the Bethlehem BrewWorks HERE and the Allentown BrewWorks HERE.

UPDATE 2: Commenter Jenny tipped me off to a couple of cool events. Over at the Sands in Bethlehem, Emeril’s Chophouse is throwing an all inclusive party for $125 per person. And several local hotels are also throwing New Year’s Eve gatherings…the best part about that is there’s no need to drive at the end of the night! Thanks, Jenny!

UPDATE 3: PigPen Sports bar has finally announced the details of their NYE party. Take a look at them here.

UPDATE 4: Details about The Firehouse’s New Year’s Eve party have been announced on Facebook. $30 cover, 9-11PM open bar, free food, champagne toast at midnight, and a “cash drop”.

UPDATE 5: Ok, scratch that last update. According to a new post from The Firehouse on Facebook, their NYE party no longer has a cover charge. There’s still going to be a free champagne toast at midnight but you can forget about the open bar. $2 well drinks, $5 Vegas bombs from 9-10 and DJ $weetlife from9-2.

Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday – November 24-26, 2009 – Thanksgiving Party Roundup

Thanksgiving Eve is easily one of the biggest bar nights of the year, an influx of college students returning home for the holiday leads to packed out local bars. In previous years it was all about hitting up the bars and pubs closest to wherever you went to HS. Not so anymore, or at least that is the hope from some of the larger bars in the area. Although there will be a large chunk of people going to neighborhood bars and pubs, places like The Firehouse, The PigPen and Drinky’s are hoping you’ll skip your local tavern and head downtown for Thanksgiving Eve revelry.

What I’ve got for you here is a roundup of all the bigger celebrations being thrown by some of the larger bars in the area. Chances are if you’re gonna go a local haunt you already know where your friends from high school are gonna be, so I’m not gonna get into that. But if you didn’t go to high school in the area and don’t know where to party this Wednesday night, maybe you’ll be able to find something to help make the most of your time off of work.

Tuesday – November 24 – Thanksgiving-Eve Eve

Thursday – Thanksgiving Day – (This is for when you get tired of hanging with your relatives)

Roosevelt’s 21st – Bethlehem – Little bit more information about Roosevelt’s Thanksgiving Day party. Enjoy $4 Rhino & vodkas and 99¢ Well Drinks (10-12) as you watch the Giants and the Bronco’s. DJ Cyn takes over at 10PM.
