Thursday – September 17, 2009 – Firehouse Grand Opening
Ok, I know what you’re thinking, “Yeah, yeah…another supposed opening at The Firehouse”. To be honest, I get where you’re coming from. And if I hadn’t seen the inside of the place with my own eyes I’d be there too. But I have and, to be totally honest with you, it looks great. Take a look for yourselves.
See what I’m talking about? Looks awesome right? And the waitresses aren’t bad looking either. The word from the owners of The Firehouse is that the long-awaited grand opening celebration will be happening this Thursday night. Cap Cee has posted a Facebook event page with all the important details. You can the check that out by clicking here.
So, barring any other major roadblocks hurled at them by the city, it looks like The Firehouse should be opening this week. Just keep those fingers crossed…

Anyone else really excited about this?

I was, but it seems like it’s going to cater more towards the loud party crowd than a good place to come and chill. Probably a better business move, but maybe not good for the people who become “regulars”. That and I was hoping for a pretty solid beer selection since most newer places are recognizing that people want microbrews or stuff out of the norm, but from what I see on tap there it’s more of the same. Oh well, I’ll still check it out opening night to give it a try.

Yeah, this may not be exactly what you are looking for.
You bring up beer selection…can you tell from the picture what the third tap handle is for? The one next to the Shocktop. I know I can’t for the life of me.

That’d be Victory Hop Devil, which looks like the only saving grace in that lineup. Don’t get me wrong, some of them are decent, but Tally Ho pisses all over that selection. Speaking of the Tally Ho, them calling out a bunch of “clown ass DJs” isn’t the most professional thing to do on your business’s facebook. To each their own. Like I said, I’ll definitely check out the place, especially since I’m a firefighter. It’d be cool to see some fire-related beers in there like Hook & Ladder (they donate money to your local burn foundation based on sales), Firehouse Brewing Company, Fire Station 5 Brewing, etc. Guess I had a different vision of the place when I first heard about it and saw the pics.

Clown ass DJ’s? Not a very nice start, Firehouse. There are plenty of cool places in the area, and these places didn’t become successful by trashing the other local options. It shouldn’t be reduced to name calling. The Tally Ho will likely help your business, drawing more people to your area of the Southside. Perhaps you should consider that before you start treating it as an adversary.

Good eyes! You’re right though, it’d be neat if they had some of those fire themed microbrews. Maybe they have them in bottles?
